What to bring for snowmobile rides

When you are riding in the mountains during winter, you should always keep in mind that the weather can change in an instant and while it may be clear and sunny at one moment or at your starting location, it can change to snow or sub zero temperatures as you change in altitude. The Bureau of Land Management has put together a guide to snowmobiling which includes an extensive list of items to consider before you hit the snowmobile trails. In addition, here is our suggested list of what to bring for your snowmobile ride:

  • Goggles or some sort of eye protection. Goggles are available for purchase at rental locations or pre-order when making a reservation.
  • Warm Waterproof Gear: Preferably breathable; remember that “water resistant” clothing means you can still get wet.
  • Extra Clothing: Dressing in layers is wise but also remember extra clothing.
  • Sunscreen: The UV rays are much more intense at higher elevations and you will burn more quickly.
  • Take plenty of water and extra food. You should always be prepared for the worst, in case you get stranded or lost.
  • First Aid Kit
