From Denver to Gunnison (over Monarch Pass):
Take Highway 285 South out of Denver and travel through Bailey and Fairplay, and on to Buena Vista. Continue on 285 South to Poncha Springs, and turn right heading west on Highway 50, which will take you over Monarch Pass and on to Gunnison. The drive from Denver normally takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on weather and road conditions.
From Denver to Gunnison (over Cottonwood Pass):
During summer, you can travel over Cottonwood Pass to save time (about 45 minutes or so) and also view some beautiful scenery. This road is normally open from around Memorial Day through October, when the first snow falls.
Take Highway 285 South out of Denver and travel through Bailey and Fairplay, and on to Buena Vista. At Buena Vista, go right on Highway 24 and head into town where you will go left to Cottonwood Pass. The road will turn to dirt from the pass down to Taylor Park at Taylor Reservoir. At the intersection at Taylor Reservoir, go left and head down Taylor Canyon Road (County Road 742). This road is paved all the way down to Almont, which is about 22 miles from Taylor Park. At the stop sign in Almont, go left and head south on Highway 135. Travel 10 miles down Highway 135 to Gunnison.
From Colorado Springs to Gunnison:
Take Highway 24 West to Buena Vista. From Buena Vista, follow the directions above via Monarch Pass or Cottonwood Pass.
Taylor Park Pick-up Location:
Our Taylor Park location is at the Taylor Park Trading Post. We are conveniently located near ATV trails. You can pick up your ATV and ride without the need for a trailer.
From Cottonwood Pass: If you drive over Cottonwood Pass, you will arrive at Taylor Park, at the intersection with County Road 742. Turn left here and go about one mile down the road, and then turn left toward Tin Cup. Go about 100 yards and take a left into the Trading Post parking lot.
From Gunnison: If you drive over Monarch Pass to Gunnison, turn right on Highway 135 in Gunnison to head north to Almont (about 10 miles). At Almont, turn right on County Road 742 and travel about 22 miles up Taylor Canyon to Taylor Park. (Watch for Big Horn Sheep!) After driving along Taylor Reservoir, the road will bend to the left and you will cross a bridge. Just past the bridge, take a right toward Tin Cup. Go about 100 yards and take a left into the Trading Post parking lot.
From Crested Butte via Almont: Head south out of Crested Butte on Highway 135. Drive approximately 17 miles to Almont. At Almont, turn left on County Road 742 and travel about 22 miles up Taylor Canyon to Taylor Park. (Watch for Big Horn Sheep!) After driving along Taylor Reservoir, the road will bend to the left and you will cross a bridge. Just past the bridge, take a right toward Tin Cup. Go about 100 yards and take a left into the Trading Post parking lot.
From Crested Butte via Jacks Cabin Cutoff: Instead of driving all the way down to Almont, you can take Jacks Cabin Cutoff to save some time. (This road is closed during the winter.) Head south out of Crested Butte on Highway 135. Drive approximately 12 miles to Jacks Cabin. Turn left here and drive about 3 miles on this paved/dirt road until it ends at County Road 742. Turn left on County Road 742 and travel about 16 miles up Taylor Canyon to Taylor Park. (Watch for Big Horn Sheep!) After driving along Taylor Reservoir, the road will bend to the left and you will cross a bridge. Just past the bridge, take a right toward Tin Cup. Go about 100 yards and take a left into the Trading Post parking lot.
